February
26th – Annual Freedom Essay Contest: Commemorating 324th Anniversary of the Protest Against Slavery, student essay contest (grades 3-12 in public/private schools) on the following topics: what is the difference between protest yesterday and today; what was the impact of the civil rights movement; and what impact does protest have on society? Prices presented to first pland and runner up wnners.
March
3rd – The Good Raised Up, Philadelphia artists, storyteller Charlotte Blake-Alston and jazz violinist John Blake,Jr. created an original work of “sung story” that will recount a fateful night when a community came together at the Johnson House to conceal escaped slaves from a search party seeking to return “futgitives” to slavery. This historically resonant musical tapestry will premiere at a free festival.

July
4th - Welcome America Celebration: Ring out Freedom and Independence in Germantown, program celebrating independence representing three historic sites: Cliveden of the National Trust; Concord School House; and the Johnson House Historic Site. Featuring reenactments; Bell Ringing by Sons of the American Revolution, guided tours storytelling about the abolition movement
6th – August 3rd - Walking & Working Together/UBUNTO Summer Camp Tour, day camp group tour focused upon the importance of working and walking together to achieve freedom This education adventure aims to help students to understand the value and challenges of working together to achieve FREEDOM and HOPE in historic and modern-day Germantown during the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
August
4th – Jazz in the Garden, a summer benefit, featuring an afternoon of food, music featuring local jazz musicians and fun on the historic grounds surrounding the Johnson House! Guided house museum tours.
October
6st - Revolutionary Germantown Festival, festival featuring reenactment of the Battle of Germantown; guided museum tours (storytelling of the abolition movement, runaway freedom seekers and the Johnsons, a family of Quakers); walking tours of other area historic sites; family friendly educational activities; and public informational tables
December
28th - Kwanzaa Family Celebration –Journey through African Storytelling, African drumming, arts and crafts and Refreshments; presented to assist in guiding our youth to adopt the principles of Kwanzaa, in order for us to live a life with a positive purpose.
