Visiting Johnson House

When visiting the Johnson House Historic Site you will:

 

Learn about the men and women who labored for the freedom of others, even when it meant going against the law.
Trace the paths escaping people took to freedom. Journey back into history and be inspired.
Recall the circumstances of a different time and its heroes.
Reclaim the past and gain knowledge from it.

The Johnson House is open to the public for walk-in tours.  Located at 6306 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144 the Johnson House is easily accessible by public transportation.

Tour Information:
Hour-long interpreter led tours are available and can be customized to suit your needs and interests. Admission fees are detailed below. 

School groups are welcome.  Adult group tours  of up to 25 -30 visitors at one time can be booked.  There is no cost for the bus driver for a group tour.

$8 Adults
$6 Seniors
$4 Child (12 & under)

School Admissions

$4 Students
$5 Chaperone
Teacher with school group FREE

The Johnson House is open for walk-in tours on:

Thursday through Friday:        February - June and September - October, 10-4pm *
Saturday:                                               All year, 1-4pm*

*Large group tours of at least 12 persons may be scheduled at any time and confirmed by appointment!  Please contact us by telephone at:  215.438.1768/ e-mail:  acneal@johnsonhouse.org

Directions:
Via the PA Turnpike (1-276): Take exit 333 and follow Germantown Pike east about 7 miles to Washington Lane on the right.
Via the Schuylkill Expressway (1-76): Take exit 340 to Lincoln Drive. Turn right onto Johnson Street (third light) then right onto Germantown Avenue (fourth light). Our site is half a block down on the right.
Via public transportation: SEPTA public transportation can get you to the Johnson House via the 23 bus and is also a short walking distance from the R8 (Chestnut Hill West) commuter rail line.
